Taking College Teaching Seriously and Little Orange Book Cover

This week:  Taking College Teaching Seriously

Presenters:  Karen Huxtable-Jester, Ph.D., Associate Director, Center of Teaching and Learning, University of Texas at Dallas; with Sarah Maxwell, Ph.D., Assistant Provost, Office of Community College Relations

Each week, we encourage you to take a break, step away from the day's work, eat a meal, and spend some time connecting with others for personal and professional enrichment.

For this Monday Lunch and Learn, we are focusing on Taking College Teaching Seriously.

This year, the University of Texas at Dallas engaged in focused faculty professional development using Gail Mellow's Taking College Teaching Seriously:  Pedagogy Matters.  Karen Huxtable-Jester and Sarah Maxwell will explain how they engaged faculty in university-wide instructional innovation, lessons learned from Dr. Mellow's book and UTD's book club and workshop, and recommendations for implementing faculty professional development programs.  They will also discuss the UT System Academy of Distinguished Teachers' Little Orange Book, a collection of essays about teaching.  This free ebook is available for Apple devices.

All lunch and learn webinars are free and open to all!
